T.A.G.
Welcome to Take Action Generation
T.A.G. is a student organized special interest group run out of Muskegon Michigan. Our mission statement is-
"We aim to awaken our generation to the fact that we have power in our government and to use that power in order to make our world a better, more accepting place."
Out current goal is to start a network of all the Schools in the West Michigan area with GSAs (gay straight alliances) In order to help people feel they aren't alone in this place and to help strengthen the LGBT youth of West Michigan. We've also organized a weekly protest, so if you're ever in the Muskegon area and would like to help us out we meet every Wednesday at Hackely park from 5-6PM. If you are interested in helping out or giving advise please e-mail me at Diana_Bluefire@yahoo.com with the subject 'T.A.G.'

T.A.G.s beginings
I'm speaking from a personal view here, and I'll try to explain why I felt the need to start this group. First of all I live in a very small, close-minded community. I have friends who are gay, lesbian, and bisexual. (I myself am straight) I've seen the reactions of people to finding out and I've witnessed the harassment they suffer. I've heard my own teachers tell them that 'they choose to be different then the rest of the world' and that it's not his fault his homophobic comments offend them. As you can imagine I'm disgusted with it, to the point where I can't sit by and let it happen anymore. So one day, more then a year ago, I handed out flyers and had a meeting after school. I never dreamed it would last this long.
T.A.G. is just beginning to be recognized in our school and I’ll admit that it’s a little bit scary. But the pride in what we’re doing and the knowledge that it has to be done is well worth the comments and jeers of a few classmates. With the help of fellow students and, hopefully, the cooperation of the school board and faculty T.A.G. will grow and we’ll really be able to make a difference.

My personal philosophy
It is my personal belief that no person has the right to judge the emotions of another. No person can measure or feel the love, fear, and pain of another person, therefore they have no right to pass judgement on these feelings. No person feels the pain or rejection from society like someone condemned as a sinner, no on knows the pain of trying to dismiss your own emotions to please the masses around you. No one has the right to tell you that your feelings are wrong or invalid and no one has the right to judge you. That is why I feel Government has no right to limit how you express yourself. Be it a book, a shirt, a song, a word, a lover, a religion, or anything else. We are beings with souls immeasurable and must be respected as that. As my idol in Government James Madison once said, Government was created to "Protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority."
